Racism and prejudice are similar but they are very different. The definition of racism is "the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races." Basically racism is hating or not liking another individual because of their race or thinking that your race is better than other races. Slavery is a great example of racism. White people thought that their race were superior to black people. White people hated blacks because they weren't their race. The definition of prejudice is "preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience." In other words, prejudice is judging others without knowing anything about them. For example, judging someone by how they look on the outside without knowing whats going on in their life is being prejudice.
